It’s no secret that in Las Vegas, its a desert out there. As the reality of the water shortage hits home, one community can honestly say that it is doing its part to conserve the precious resource that is the single most important ingredient to the future prosperity of Las Vegas. Red Rock County Club, located at the western boundary of the Las Vegas valley in the Summerlin Community has take a proactive stance towards reducing water usage. In the process it has demonstrated that conservation can be a win-win situation.
In 2007 the community of Red Rock took affirmative action in its efforts to reduce water consumption and began removing unnecessary grass along the fairways and greens of its two Arnold Palmer designed golf courses. In place of the water hungry grass, a variety of beautiful, flowering desert plants and succulents were planted. As you can see the results are quite eye catching. The millions of gallons of water savings sets the example for other courses in Las Vegas to follow.
